BEARD CARE 101

Like everything else on your body, your beard is going to require some work to truly do you proud. It needs to be trimmed, washed, oiled and brushed if you want it to look (and smell) its best. Luckily, we have plenty of experience taming our own beards, so we’re here to help you through it.

Trimming Your Beard
Particularly if you’re trying to grow your beard out, you’re going to need to trim it. Beard hair doesn’t all grow in the same direction, or at the same speed, so as the overall beard grows, you’re going to have to help give it some shape.

Washing Your Beard
You may be tempted to use face wash on your beard – it’s on your face, right? While we’re all for making skincare simple, we’re going to have to insist that you refrain from this practice. Your beard is hair, and therefore needs shampoo to keep it from drying out. There are lots of beard-specific options out there to choose from – just make sure you pick one you’re okay smelling all day.

Oiling Your Beard
Beard hair tends to be coarser than the hair on your head, and by coarse we mean itchy. If you don’t want to shave the whole thing off before you even get started, make sure you invest in a quality beard oil. Beard oil softens the hair in your beard, making your face much more comfortable, and helps you ward off beard dandruff. Bonus: if you don’t like the smell of your shampoo, chances are your beard oil can overpower it.

Brushing Your Beard
Imagine Tom Hanks in Castaway… now look in the mirror. If your beard in any way resembles his bird nest of a beard, you’re in dire need of a beard brush. Making a habit of brushing your beard every day keeps the hairs from getting tangled and helps you maintain the shape you sculpted with your trimmer. A beard brush can also help you distribute beard oil evenly.

FOR YOUR FACE: REGULAR SOAP Vs FACE WASH
FOR YOUR FACE: REGULAR SOAP Vs FACE WASH

June 21, 2019

Don't be so quick to wash your face with that bar of soap. The skin on your face should never be the same as the rest of your body. A proper face wash will take care of the sensitive skin found on your face without drying it out or worse...making it itchy and flaky like a bar of soap would.
